NEWS TICKER WORLDGAMES: The Countdown is on
Only two days to go for the 12th World Games of Mountainbiking in Saalbach Hinterglemm
Almost 1000 starters have already registered for Marathon, Cross Country, Dual Eliminator, Downhill and Scott Junior Trophy. Some of them are already here for inspection of the tracks or last training runs before the Worldchampionship of Amateur Bikers starts.
A glance on the statistics show that we have starters from 20 nations – and also distant countries like Cuba, USA or Australia. The nations with the most competitors at the World Games are Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Belgium.
80% of all starters are male – the youngest competitor is 3 years and the oldest athlet is 72 years!
15 Marathon starters compete in a special ranking: The Mountainhero adds the ranks of the international Ski Touring Marathon Mountain Attack, which takes place each January in Saalbach Hinterglemm, with the rank of the long distance Marathon of the Worldgames. The best woman and man of both Events combined will be honoured with the titleMountain Hero.
The Worldgames begin on Friday with the Qualification Runs of Downhill and Dual, the Cross Country and the SCOTT Junior Trophy powered by Milka. On Saturday the Marathon starts at 9:00 and the finals of Downhill and Dual will be held at Reiterkogel. The legendary Wold-Games Party with Gerry&Gary on Saturday night closes the event.
